Always look on the bright side of life…

Ah – so much can be learned from Monty Python…

Seriously though… positivity is under-rated. I’ve been making a concerted effort over the past couple of weeks to look at the positive in everything.  I’ve seemed to manage to approach most of my life like that – in the end, anyway. Something good has come outta everything bad in my life.

Unfortunately, negativity is much more contagious and self-sustaining than positivity… it almost gets to the point that it feeds off of itself. You’d think that something that fed off of itself would create its own demise. No dice with negativity. The more it feeds off itself the more it grows.

Why can’t positivity spread and grow that easily? Why is it harder to look on the bright side and get others to do the same?

People seem to be so caught up in their self-pity that they need others to feel the same and will only feel better when their misery has company.

Blech. Screw that. Don’t bring me down. Don’t try to contribute to my misery by projecting yours. Is that not inherently selfish? But then again, maybe people are… inherently selfish – it must be learned. Question everything. Be cynical. Expect the worst. Don’t give the benefit of the doubt. No wonder it’s so hard to ‘always look on the bright side of life.’  It seems that many would have you believe that it doesn’t even exist.
